How do I create flashcards?

Flashcards are the foundation for your quizzes in Memorise mode. They can be created manually by selecting Write cards or by Magic Import.

✍️ Write cards

Writing cards manually is very simple. You can add text, pictures or LaTex to a card ready for quizzing.

You can also make the card 'flippable' by selecting the Front and back toggle.

When you've added all of the information you want, click Save and the card will be added to your deck.

πŸͺ„ Magic Import

When using Magic Import, you can generate flashcards from many different file types including PDFs & Photos. You can even use your phone's camera to take pictures of your notes or record the audio of a lecture/lesson! The number of flashcards generated depends on factors such as the clarity and format of the source material, the presence of key points and headings, and the type of content (e.g., text, images, or video transcripts).

A full list of the options can be found here

  • PDF

  • Recording of a lecture/lesson

  • Quizlet

  • Notes

  • Website

Once the import has finished, Gizmo will create cards for you automatically and highlight key words in green for you to be quizzed on.

Best Practices for Ensuring Completeness

To make the most of the Magic Import feature and ensure all critical details are included:

  1. Review the Imported Deck: Check the generated flashcards to confirm that all important items are included.

  2. Add Manual Cards: If you notice any critical details missing, manually add them to your deck.

  3. Import in Smaller Sections: For lengthy notes, consider importing them in smaller sections to reduce the chance of omissions.
