How do I customise my Magic Import?

Fine-tune Magic Import: pick your pages, style and AI instructions.

When you use Magic Import, you can customise how Gizmo generates and saves your cards before you hit Save. Here's what you can control.

After choosing your import source, you'll reach the Save cards into screen. Tap the settings icon ⚙️ in the top right to open the customisation options.

Choose which deck to save your imported cards into. Tap the deck selector to switch decks, or tap New deck + to create one on the spot.

Customisation options

You can customise your imports in several different ways.

Sort cards into subdecks 🗂️

Gizmo will automatically organise your cards into subdecks based on topic. Great for large imports covering multiple subjects.

Select pages to import 📄

Choose specific pages from your document rather than importing everything. Useful for long PDFs where you only need one section.

Target number of cards 🎯

Set a limit on how many cards Gizmo generates. Handy if you want a focused set rather than an exhaustive one.

Add instructions to AI 🤖

Give Gizmo specific guidance, such as the style of cards you want, what to focus on, or what to leave out.

Card language 🌍

Choose the language your cards are generated in. Useful if you're studying in a different language to your source material.

Once you're happy with your settings, tap Save to generate your cards.

💡 Not sure where to start? The defaults work well for most imports. You can always edit or add cards manually afterwards.
