Once your Catch-of-the-day egg has dropped, answer more questions to get it ready to hatch.
How many questions does my egg need?
This depends on your egg's rarity:

Your egg only starts counting questions once you finish the round you found it in, so don't worry if it still shows no progress right after it appears.
You can check how many questions are left before your egg hatches any time. Open your profile, go to the Stats tab, then tap Pet collection.
Your very first ever Catch-of-the-day egg works a little differently: instead of counting questions, it hatches once you've completed 2 full rounds.
Opening your egg
Once it's ready, tap your egg to play a quick tapping mini-game and crack it open. If you'd rather not play, tap Open for me to open it straight away.
What monster will I get?
You'll get a monster (also called a pet) at random, matching your egg's rarity. There's no protection against duplicates, so it's possible to hatch a monster you already have. Every new monster starts at level 1, and can be levelled up from there, see How do I level up and equip my monsters? for how.
What happens with a duplicate?
If you already own the monster you hatch, you'll get Monster Essence matching its rarity instead, for example a Common duplicate gives Common Monster Essence. The amount is random, usually somewhere between 5 and 15, and can be boosted if you have a monster equipped with a duplicate-essence bonus. Good to know
You can only have one Catch-of-the-day egg at a time. Hatch it before a new one can drop.
An unopened egg carries over to the next day exactly as it was, rarity and progress included. You'll need to hatch it before a new day's egg can start.
If you miss a day entirely without finding an egg, it doesn't carry over. You'll simply start fresh the next day.
If an egg hadn't dropped yet when the day changed, its progress resets. This is expected: Catch-of-the-day never carries over progress towards an egg that hasn't appeared yet.
📝 Had monsters before Catch-of-the-day eggs launched? They were automatically converted into Monster Essence (10 each).
